CORD is Central Ordering Receiving and Distribution. All radionuclide purchases must be made through the CORD office. Our NRC license specifies that all shipments be made to our 30 East Campus Mall address.
To order radionuclides you must be a trained worker assigned to an authorized user. Access to the Health Physics Assistant program is limited to those workers named by their respective PI.
The CORD desk is staffed Monday through Friday during regular business hours. CORD staff unpacks and delivers radionuclide products in the morning and places orders to vendors in the afternoon. All deliveries of licensed radioactive material require a signature from a trained radiation worker that is knowledgeable about the storage requirements of the specific material. Requisitions are collected between noon and 12:30 PM. Requisitions made after noon will generally be placed the next day.
The most popular vendor/product combination is Perkin Elmer P-32. Perkin Elmer produces a fresh lot each Thursday. Most P-32 products from Perkin Elmer are delivered overnight, but we cannot guarantee shipping times. There are no weekend deliveries.
CORD will place orders to the vendor of your choice. Be aware that contracted vendors generally offer the lowest prices. If you choose a non-contract vendor, you must supply to CORD the contact information such as vendor name, web address and/or phone number.
CORD charges a $45 fee per item on most orders. The CORD fee is charged to the user via a Cost Center Number supplied on the requisition.
A note on Requisition numbers and Inventory numbers:
The Requisition number is often similar to the vial's inventory number, but it's a different record that CORD uses for manufacturer to user shipping. When referring to vials, especially if you need to call about a vial or inventory issue, please be aware of which number you are using.
- Requisition numbers are used from the manufacturer to the user - they show up on the ordering page when you order material, and are printed on the vial bag when you receive your order.
- Inventory numbers are used once the vial has reached a lab - it's the number on the inventory sheet you receive with your vial, and the one tied to the vial on the HPA inventory software.
The CORD office is open during regular weekday business hours. Orders for products placed through the CORD lab must be received by noon in order to be processed on the same day. Most orders for common products will be delivered between 10 AM and 2 PM the day after the order is processed. Please be aware that cannot guarantee delivery dates or times.
