If you work with animals and use pharmaceutical chemicals, we’ve got some great news: disposing of your waste just got a whole lot clearer!
The Animal Research Safety team has rolled out a brand new webpage on Environment, Health & Safety’s website. This handy resource breaks down exactly how to dispose of:
- DEA-controlled substances
- Hazardous pharmaceutical waste
- Non-hazardous pharmaceutical waste
To make life even easier, there’s a new poster available (by request) featuring a quick-reference chart that tells you exactly what goes where and how to get it there! Think of this as your cheat sheet for waste disposal, and post it where your team can see it!
If you work with hazardous pharmaceutical chemicals, don’t forget to take the Hazardous Waste Pharmaceutical Disposal Training (incl link). It’s quick, informative, and includes a list of the chemicals you need to know. (Spoiler: That list is also posted on the new webpage.)
Check out the new tools, level up your disposal game, and keep your research space safe and compliant. Because nothing says “responsible researcher” more than knowing how to dispose of hexachlorophene!
