Animal Research Safety

The Animal Research Safety (ARS) group provides risk assessment and management, along with pre- and post-exposure services for personnel and students at UW-Madison with animal contact.

The ARS group works with the four campus IACUCs reviewing animal protocols for health hazards such as biological, chemical, physical, and radiation hazards as well as wildlife and farm safety concerns.

We provide animal-related safety trainings, support medical clearance, and advise on personal protective equipment usage.

Hazard assessments and facility inspections are conducted to minimize or eliminate the health hazards associated with animal contact in order to ensure a safe and productive research environment.
