Bio-ARROW — Minors in the Research Laboratory

The Personnel section Bio-ARROW has been updated so that the Study Team can add information regarding the presence of minors under the age of 18 in research laboratories. The rationale is to protect minors, as well as workers who could be distracted by the presence of minors, from the hazards prevalent in the laboratory.

Such potential hazards include biological, chemical, radiological, mechanical, electrical, and thermal hazards; as well as animals, which pose additional risks including bites, scratches, and exposure to allergens or zoonotic agents.

Please be aware of the requirements stated in UW Policy UW-6106 which provide guidance and safety requirements for our youngest scientific minds.

Please contact the Office of Biological Safety if you have questions or if you need assistance completing the section.
